I am Carrie Curtis, a member of the club's

Environment and Natural Resources Member-led Forum and your chair for today. We also welcome our listening audience on the radio and the internet, and we invite everyone to visit us online at commonwealth club.org.

And now it is my pleasure to introduce our distinguished speaker.

Gil Friend is president and CEO of Natural Logic Incorporated.

He's a noted thought leader on sustainable business with more than 37 years of experience in business, research, and policy.

His clients have included Agilent Technologies, Oberg Resorts, Coca-Cola, Dean Foods, Hewlett-Packard, Levi Strauss, Nike, Sun, and William Sonoma.

He is a founding board member of the Sustainable Business Alliance and serves on the boards and advisory councils of too many organizations for me to name.

He has written more than 100 articles, contributed chapters to several books, and is the author of The Truth About Green Business and the forthcoming Risk fiduciary Responsibility and the

laws of nature. He holds an MS in systems ecology from Antioch University, a black belt in Iquito,

and is a seasoned practitioner of the Natural Step, a Sustainability Management Program.
