I'm Giles Corrin and I've got a new podcast called Giles Corrin has no idea.

Now, this is not literally true, whatever you might have heard.

We're calling it this because it's all about the moment

in the week when I have to sit down and write my column, which is to say my flagship column. I have some others,

but they're all about food and my social life and all sorts of other nonsense and are frankly a walk in the park.

But this one, the big huge massive topical opinion column in the Times is the one that puts me

under real pressure, especially when, as is often the case, I have simply no idea what to write about, and that is where my wife Esther comes in.

Because having read all the papers and found nothing of any interest whatsoever, my next move is usually to hand them all over to her and head off to take the kids to school, hoping that by the time I get back, she will have at least three really good ideas picked out for me.

And that's what this podcast is all about. It's just a bit of a glimpse

into how newspaper columns are made. There will be no insights of a personal nature at all. Nothing

like that. No arguments or marital tiffs, no rouse about whose turn it is to put the bins out.

This is not some sort of prurient window into my domestic life or anything.

Those of you hoping to watch a modern media marriage unravel before your eyes will be sorely disappointed. Is it on? Okay is it on now. Is it on?
