God judging them for their departure,

the people crying out in repentance and for help, God raising up a judge, a human being who would lead in delivering them because of their crying out to him.

So we have this cycle in judges that becomes a circle of life for the people of God.

And we're extracting principles for our lives from the book of judges

because the Bible says that the Old Testament was written for our example.

So we're not in the same situation of the Old Testament of the nation

with conquering lands and all of that,

but there are spiritual principles that are embedded throughout the Old Testament that apply to us

in New Testament days.
