Hey, everybody.

Today's podcast is with Ron Wodez, the third base coach of the Giants, the longtime bench coach.

And I think a lot of you have probably listened to him just about every Sunday on K&BR.

He is known as the professor.

And as we joked about it at the beginning, there was a while there.

I think three years where he would go on in the morning and I would go on after him.

And we kind of followed each other. We always follow each other in the hallway there.

And somebody I've talked to a lot before games, really just a good baseball mind.

And does a lot for the Giants. There's a lot of the little things, a lot of the shifting,

the infield defense, helping with base running, things that maybe you don't

see helping guys develop defensively. I know he's had a huge hand in what Brandon Crawford and

Joe Panic and Brandon Belt have done over the years. And recently you see the way Austin

Slater has played first base. We talked a bit about Slater on this podcast and since then he's had a

couple rough nights in left

field but i still think he has come a long way defensively at least at first base um one thing on

this podcast we did talk before tuesday's game so there's some stephen dougar talk between me and

ron and obviously since then dougar has gotten hurt and we found out last night that he is probably

going to have shoulder surgery to repair at Torn Labrum.

Just a brutal break for the Giants, a brutal break for Dugger, somebody who had done a really
