Summary

Dan and Nick drop a show they've been waiting all season long to roll out -- an exclusive interview with quarterback guru Mark Schofield -- a man who watched more All-22 on the quarterback position than Nick and Dan have seen of the Giants combined (and that's a whole lot of game tape)! Schofield dives into why Jones was so much better against man than zone coverage, the fumbling issue, Jones' post-snap mental processing, how he will fit what Jason Garrett wants to do on offense, a breakout wide receiver who best fits Jones' skill set and a lot more. This is a jam-packed episode. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Welcome back. This is the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier, joined by my co-host, Nick Falado. Today we've got a special show for you, my favorite show we've recorded in quite some time.

1:29.7

We're carrying on with our positional breakdown of the roster, and we've stopped at the most important one. That's the quarterback position. And we'll be evaluating Daniel Jones today. We're not going to dive too deep in the other quarterbacks. This is a Daniel Jones show because, God forbid, if there's an injury to Daniel Jones,

1:27.9

I don't think the Giants are going quite anywhere with Colt McCoy, Alex Tanny, or Cooper Rush.

1:49.5

So today, to help us break down Daniel Jones, we're bringing out Mark Schofield.

1:53.2

We'll talk a little bit about his background as a quarterback guru.

But before we do any of that, Nick, want to get a little update. Let's do another quarantine update. The listeners of the show have appreciated the quarantine updates. So I want to hear what's going on since we last spoke almost a week ago. So still no update on the Marshall Thunderring heard. I haven't played the game. Okay. I've been doing a lot of film stuff for

2:18.1

SI and Big Blue View. So I haven't had the time. But I have had the time to go work on my tennis game, Dan. And I'm starting to get that served down. I'm starting to hit that deep corner. I'm starting to put it next to the midline. I'm starting to get kind of proud. But I am entirely inconsistent with it. So one time I can nail it and it can be an ace the next time I'm sending that thing flying.

2:17.6

So if you and I ever get a chance to play tennis together, you got to help me with these mechanics, man. Because I feel like, you know, a quarterback who has raw potential because of athletic ability but cannot put it all together because I haven't had the right coach yet. Yeah, I'm definitely there for you, Nick. I will give you some important tips. And it's interesting, you bring up raw athletic ability, you know, all of that when it comes to tennis. But I think this kind of gets lost on some people. And my cousin Ari is actually a perfect example, a guy who, you know, unbelievable athlete was, you know, a Division I soccer player for Syracuse, one of the best high school soccer
