On this show we often refer to Christianity as the true myth.

What does that mean?

Doesn't that imply that Christianity isn't really true?

That the scriptures can't be trusted? Doesn't it call everything we hold is precious and absolute

into question, even our very salvation? No, it doesn't. One day two friends sat across from each other,

engaged in one of their very usual but amiable debates. The argument was over the value and impact of story in the human life.

The one, a prodigious poet, staunch atheist and lover of the rich literary history in the Western

canon, said in an exasperated tone.

Myths are lies and therefore worthless even though breathed through silver.

No, replied his Catholic friend.
