| 0:00.0 | Welcome back. It's the big blue banter. New York Giants football podcast. I'm Dan Schneier. |
| 0:09.3 | Joined as always my co-s, Nick Villado. It's been a little while since we came to you. It's a dead time for the New York football Giants right now. Let's just be honest with the situation. This is what happens in January. |
| 0:19.6 | Dead is kind of how we all feel right now, too. But we all feel pretty dead about this scheme, but that should hopefully change. It's time of, you know, free agency and the draft. Things can change. Things will change. Not necessarily will. They can change. The commanders are a great example of how fast things can change. I mean, the commanders last year, Nick, we'll talk about it's a little bit today. And I'll preview in a second what we're going to talk about today. They won four games last year, Nick. They lost 13. And their point differential was over 100, negative over 100. Like they were one of the worst teams in the NFL, if not the worst team in the NFL. And now they're in the conference championship game. And they just blew out the one seat essentially. I mean, not blowout. They won by two scores against the one seed. It's a blowout. Like, that's how fast things can change in the NFL. It's not dead until a positive note with that too is how many wasted first round picks did Washington have. Oh, yeah. So many. Manuel Forbes is cut. They just drafted him in the fourth round. Exactly. So that's another thing giant fans can look at and be like, see, they burn their picks and they were able to turn it around if you just get certain things correct. If you get certain things correct. And what we'll talk about today, this is going to be a recap of just random news surrounding the Giants. and then we're going to do our thoughts on the divisional round, the NFL playoffs. The commanders and Eagles match up a little bit of a preview, just talk about the conference championship and then how those teams got here and what we can learn and what the Giants may be able to learn from that. We're also going to do a few other stuff later this week. We're going to do a podcast on first steps that Joe Shane and Brian Dable can take this off season to get this team back on track. And then next week, we're going to start some interesting stuff. I mean, we got senior bowl. We're going to talk about that. I don't think neither, at least as of now, neither Nick or I are planning to be there, though, which kind of deflates that a bit. Both doesn't work with our schedules for work. But so we're going to just start to do game. So like next week I talk about |
| 1:44.5 | to Nick. We're going to do it. which kind of deflates that a bit. Both doesn't work with our schedules for work. |
| 1:59.2 | But so we're going to just start to do game. So like next week I talked about this with Nick, we're going to do a Cam Ward game. We're just going to both watch the tape. We're going to evaluate it and we're going to break it down on here. Just one game. We're not going to do our whole valuation yet. That's going to come in late March, April, like it always does. We do our player profile. We had him last year on May and all and jaden and all those guys. |
| 2:01.0 | But we're just going to do a game. |
| 2:19.0 | It's going to chart. March, April, like it always does. We do our player profile. We had them last year on May and all and Jaden and all those guys. |
| 2:18.5 | But we're just going to do a game. It's going to chart it. We're going to talk about it. I'm going to have my new system. Then I'm going to debut, a charting system for ball placement that I'm going to do, use and chart every single game that we watch of a quarterback this year. I'll have the little system for how I felt like they looked from a ball placement standpoint in that game. |
| 2:35.1 | And hopefully you can quantify some things from a number standpoint. That's least my goal. It's going to be a one to five scale from ball placement standpoint. I'll break it down in a further episode. But we'll do a Cam Ward game. I think we should start with his best game, Nick. We even talked about us, but I would love to do his bowl game. He was so on fire in that game and I did watch a cut up of it this weekend. So I would love to do that game to start, |
| 2:34.8 | start with the best. we haven't talked about this, but I would love to do his bowl game. He was so on fire in that game. And I did watch a cut up of it this weekend. So I would love to do that game to start, |
| 2:54.5 | start with the best. But yeah, we'll start to do games and we'll start to talk a little bit more |
| 2:57.8 | draft as we roll through. But today we're going to talk a little bit about some stuff. So let's talk |
| 3:01.7 | first, Nick, about some news that came out. Not necessarily news. We maybe knew about it, but there's been |
| 3:08.3 | discussion now that the Xavier, losing Xavier McKinney infreency for the Giants, he signed a massive |
| 3:13.4 | contract with the Packers, is going to lead to a competent story draft pick for the Giants in this |
| 3:17.9 | coming draft. Now, right now, the news around it is that it's looking like a fourth round |
| 3:23.1 | pick the Giants will get in this draft for losing Xavier McKinney, but it might be upgraded to a three. |
| 3:27.6 | And that information is not yet to come out. |
| 3:29.8 | The compensatory pick formula is kind of complicated, Nick. |
| 3:34.3 | But this is good news. |
| 3:35.7 | The Giants are getting at least a three, maybe a four for McKinney. |
| 3:38.4 | Let's just hit it, right? |
