There's little doubt this one's going to sting for a long time.

The Chiefs had complete control of the AFC championship game

against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, an 18-point lead,

and Patrick Mahomes playing maybe his best game of the season,

then it all turned with one terrible play call.

Chiefs could have kicked a field goal to go up 14 points at the half,

getting the opening kickoff in the third quarter, and everything's good in the world.

But no, Andy Reid allows the player to dictate

what the team will do. Mahomes talks him into one more play. That one more play was a terrible

decision by Mahomes where he threw the ball and completed the pass to Tyree Kill behind the end

zone. He was tackled, the clock ran out, the chief's got nothing.

It's one thing to be a player's coach, and Andy Reid is certainly that. It's another to let the

players coach. That's what Andy Reid did. He's paid far too much money to let his quarterback

decide what the strategy is in a football game.

The Bengals went to the locker room with a little bounce in their step.

The chiefs were hanging their heads, even though they were up 11.

What happened after that is inexplicable.

Patrick Mahomes then played his worst football of the season,

two turnovers after halftime and should have had another as he fumbled,
