From the Personal Journal of Merrick Dillon, entry dated, 10, 23, 2021.

My first week at this research station has been interesting, to say the least.

0:12.0

To go from graduating with an undergrad degree in biology in the summer,

0:16.0

to heading up here above the Arctic Circle in the fall, has been a whirlwind. When I first agreed to let

0:22.2

my dad set up this paid internship for me, I had no idea how much secrecy would be involved.

0:28.6

Case in point, I can't even write in my private journal where exactly this research station is

0:34.4

located. They may even redact any mention of the Arctic Circle when I leave here.

0:40.1

I've been told I can mention the name of the organization, the SCP Foundation. Not that anyone

0:46.9

knows what exactly that is. I had no idea my dad worked for the foundation until I was a teenager.

I need to get into the habit of recording data and observations. So here we are.

1:09.0

If they end up redacting half of this journal, so be it. It's a good practice.

1:14.7

1:20.2

studies insects for a living would look. He reminds me of my high school football coach,

1:25.5

in his appearance anyway. His demeanor is a little

1:29.3

different. He's brusque and seems to be a bit frazzled like he's got a hundred things on his

1:34.8

mind at any time. Maybe he does. He's the head honcho here after all. Anyway, I haven't even

1:42.8

been in to see the wasps yet, which is the whole reason I'm here.

1:47.0

I've been watching all these safety videos about pretty much every wasp species on Earth, except the one I'm here to study.

1:55.0

The only thing is, I can't get on the internet here. They have a local network, but it's not connected to the internet.

2:02.6

At least, not for me.

2:05.6

I'm sure Dr. Millard and others above my pay grade have access to the internet, but I don't.
