Liu Mai Jia graduated from the University of Western Australia

with an MA in economics.

She launched her science fiction writing journey in 2022. The following

year, Mahjja, was nominated for the Chinese Nebula for Best New Writer and Galaxy Award for

Best Novela. In 2024, she was honored as Best New Science Fiction writer by the inaugural Tianwen

Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest. In 2025, she was selected for the

Science Fiction Literature Excellence Award at the third science fiction planet competition.
