Hey, you guys, this is Brad Listy, and I just want to say a few words before I re-air my conversation

with Giancarlo de Trappano. It first went up back in March of 2013, episode 160.

Giancarlo de Trappano passed away earlier this week.

He was the founder and publisher of tyrant books.

Many of us in the literary community knew him, knew of his work in publishing, read the books that he published.

And his loss is a profound one.

It's really sad.

He was only 47 years old.

I don't think the cause of death is known at this point.

I know just some very basics.

You know, he was in New York.

He had come over to conduct some meetings and passed away in his

sleep. That I think is what I have been told. I wouldn't dare speculate beyond that. But it's just

a heartbreaker.

I didn't know him well, but I did know him a bit, and he was always totally enjoyable.

I loved the books that he published.

I love that he offered a forum for a kind of writer that might not get their due otherwise or properly.

He had good taste.

And he was just unique.

There was something kind of libertine about him and the way he lived his life.

And certainly in publishing, he stood out as a kind of rock star figure, for lack of a better comparison.

And I'm just sad to think that he's no longer with us, but grateful to him for all that he did and all that he contributed to the world of books in his time here.
