Opened in May 1939, this Shito-esque-style building was designed by architects John Smith Archibald and John Schofield.

At the time of its completion, it was the tallest structure in Vancouver,

reaching a height of 369 feet. The hotel's opening coincided with the royal visit of King George

the 6th and Queen Elizabeth, marking a significant event in the city's history. The hotel quickly

became a social hub, hosting elegant events and attracting notable guests.
