So you'll have to tell me how I did these guys., the guys that we have, Doug, Jonas, Gary Apple, they make it look so casual and easy.

But it's a different seat.

Have you ever been in this position in your years here, John?

No, but I keep telling Jonas I'm going to take over for one of these days, so maybe I should be careful about what I wish for.

Well, yeah, it's not easy.

We'll get through it. Doug's on vacation.

Doug is like laying on a beach in the Mediterranean summer.

It's nice, I'm sure, but it's not as nice as sitting here in Lower Manhattan and talking

about the New York Mets.

What could be better?

How long? Easy on the long time.

One of the younger, fresher, hipper baseball voices. Should we say that? I've been around for a while.

Covered the Mets. The Yankees wrote a column for the Daily News for many, many years. A colleague, a much respected colleague of mine. he's one of those people that I'll say,

I'll say rude things to his face and nice things behind his back, because that's how we work.

But we're very happy to have John here.

Of course, we're going to get into Met trade deadline stuff and then some historical perspective

with John, because your perspective, as you mentioned, dips well back into history.

Is that fair to say?

It does. Write a book about it.
