going to combine two of our favorite things. One is spookiness and the other of course is history

and we're going to spend some time in this hour with you talking about the ghost in the white house.

And I learned a whole lot about the research for this show this week Samantha and I'm sure you did too.

So you want to give everybody just kind of an overview of the white house before we get started on

the spooky stuff. Sure, I'd love to. So the white house which we all know is on 1600 Pennsylvania

Avenue, probably one of the most famous addresses out there was built in 1792. It's surrounded by

wrought iron fences and paroled by armed guards. It's 55,000 square feet features 132 rooms and took

eight years to build. The white house has 35 bathrooms, eight staircases and three elevators.

It is the only private residence of a head of state open free of charge to the public. It was called

the president's palace or the executive mansion until theodore Roosevelt nicknamed it the White House.

Now in 1933 FDR added a pool to help with his polio. Of course Nixon had it filled in during his

years as president to make room for the press and then Ford had an outdoor pool build again in 1975.

President Carter had the first computer installed in 1978. I think that and I'm not sure I'm

right about this but I think that president Carter also had solar panels put on the white house.
