It was so cumbersome, trying to move around in this thing.

Plus, she had no idea there would be so many hot guys at this random party. If she had known,

she might have chosen a different Halloween costume. Her bestie, Liz, was a sexy firefighter,

for example. She stood awkwardly by the drinks table, watching as Liz exchanged numbers with a tall,

A plastic axe was hoisted over his shoulder. She blushed.

Yeah, thanks. There's not too much ghost appreciation these days. She was breathing hard

underneath her sheet. She made small talk with the lumberjack, who she learned was named

Cole, the host's brother.

He kept his gaze focused right on her blue eyes and exposed pink, glossy lips.

She realized that Cole had no idea what she looked like under the sheet, yet he still seemed

interested. The smell of the bonfire from the backyard

came through the open kitchen window, along with a cool breeze. Have you seen upstairs? asked Cole.

Sabine shook her ghost head. He grinned. Come on. That's how Sabine wound up in the converted

attic space of the house. It was a second living room, but made to look antique and old-timey.

A four-poster bed was covered in a vintage quilt that looked homemade. The curtains were open and tied back,

letting in a stream of moonlight. Cole pulled off Sabine's ghost costume slowly and surely.
