hello and welcome to Jason and Ashley's excellent adventures I am Darth Jason and I am I don't know Ashley why aren't you Darth Jason I mean Ashley not Darth Jason do you want to be dark Jason only if I can be Darth Jason Skywalker welcome to the podcast where we don't know how to start things at all but I will tell you this we have decided to do something a little bit more

do something a little special on this Jason and Ashley yeah you know it's the 20th anniversary Ashley of a movie that not many people saw not a lot of people saw this movie

uh-huh independent feature yeah it it was called episode one the Phantom Menace and it's a little weird that it's called that because I don't know if there was ever an episode do as far as I know I didn't see it I have no idea

so uh because it is an actuality episode for yes this movie came out of nowhere swung for the fences had a racist alien in it and everybody said no no no go away let's talk about Star Wars episode one at the Phantom Menace actually and then they made two more on our experiences what they did yeah I didn't see them but I don't know about sand it's like where do they continue the Phantom Menace universe do they continued it to the planet of Naboo I was waiting for you to say I was setting you up for a meteor

I was I was hoping you were going to go for that I was trying really hard I only seen the Clone Wars Attack of the Clones that's what I meant yeah I was like one or the self yeah I don't remember most of that movie all right so it's funny so this was your idea and and we got to say

Patrons out there that we actually kind of would have done this as a regular episode of Geek history lesson if we had remembered the 20th anniversary

something that we're thinking about doing more is trying to put out special episodes that tie into anniversaries of things if we haven't already covered that ground for example this year is Ghostbusters 35th anniversary but we already did a Ghostbusters episode

Oh yeah I don't know where we go with that so I don't really know what else we would do with that however for this we can talk about the Phantom Menace

I can't talk about the Phantom Menace now Ashley I want to ask you uh because you are a young little Chitlin yes when the Phantom Menace came out

I was under 10 years old 1999 yeah when did you first see the Phantom Menace now did you go see it in the theaters did you see it in VHS how did you first see it

My father took me to the cinema to see it oh that's a good dad um he had shown us the remastered VHSes

Yeah not too long maybe 96 not too long before can I interrupt your story just very briefly sure I have a story that specifically relates to that okay so I had right before they made the special

Ditions before they released them in theaters because they did and I didn't get to see any of them in theaters they re-released on VHS the original versions of

Star Wars and they all had like little cutouts like like one of them was Darth Vader one of them was Yoda and one of them was is like half of their face

I had the regular versions of Star Wars and Return of the Jedi now why didn't buy them as a box that I have no idea because I was by them and I had the special

Edition of Empire oh that was my that was my that was my VHS Star Wars trilogy okay so you you had seen the special

Editions of the regular what I like those a lot because Luke Skywalker is your favorite Star Wars character just for everybody yeah he is he is to this day I'm

I like Leah a lot too I also love a so good tone up well by what by liking Luke you have like Leah because they are twins

Luke is my all-time Star Wars crash such a babe so such a babe you think Mark Hamill's a babe totally
