Hi everyone, Ronnie here. Welcome to Clean with me. This is the seventh episode and the title of this episode is Getting Out of a Slump.

0:11.8

So before we really get into it, I encourage you to freshen up, at least wipe off that makeup from under your eyes from the night before, or is that

0:22.2

just me that does that? Put on something presentable, run a brush through your hair. For you,

0:28.5

it may be different. Do what it takes to feel presentable. Maybe have a cup of coffee or a smoothie

0:33.4

or whatever gets you going in the morning, light a candle, all that good stuff to where you're

0:40.1

in the right mindset to get something done around the house. But if you're in a slump, it might be

0:48.0

kind of hard to get started. So one of the ways that I get started is just committing to 15 minutes. I'll set a timer for 15

0:58.4

minutes and just see how much I can accomplish. And I use a whole house approach, but I typically

1:05.9

start in the kitchen. So I won't spend the entire 15 minutes in the kitchen if I'm wanting to only spend 15

1:14.2

minutes cleaning so I'll spend maybe 10 minutes in there and then five on the rest of the house

1:19.8

and just see how much I can get done now that's not enough really to get everything that I want

1:25.4

done but sometimes that's enough to get me out of a

1:28.5

slump to get, you know, I start the dishwasher, I wipe down surfaces, sweep, vacuum my carpets,

1:37.1

or put stuff away, just whatever I can do. And then oftentimes at the end of the 15 minutes,

1:44.0

I do want to continue more often than not.

1:47.5

But it's kind of a mind trick where you tell yourself, I can at least just spend 15 minutes.

1:53.0

I'm not really interested in cleaning my house today.

1:55.8

I've got a lot on my mind.

1:57.9

But hey, I'm going to spend 15 minutes on it.

2:03.4

And then you're probably going to end up going beyond that, maybe listening to another podcast episode or another music playlist. But just

2:12.3

start out with that 15 minutes if you're having trouble even getting started.

2:26.5

Another way to get out of a slump is to think about how keeping your house clean and organized will help some of the other areas in your life.
