This month I'll take a look at some cases in which a person who was clearly to blame

for the tragic death of another, nevertheless was not held responsible.

You may notice a common factor in each of these stories that may have helped the perpetrator

walk free.

But I'll leave that clue for you to discover. First up is a bizarre case

of a brutal killing, a dismembered body, and even a confession by the guilty party that

still somehow ends in an acquittal. But don't worry that I gave away the ending because this story is so strange it will still leave you scratching your head, But I swear it's all true. The wealthy son of a

New York real estate family leaves town to avoid investigation in the decades old

disappearance of his wife.

A year later, he will be the number one suspect

in the murder of an elderly man in Texas.

This is the case of Robert Gerst,

and the murder of Morris Black.
