There has always been a battle between light and darkness.

The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution says a well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. No, this is not a political episode today, but I want to say I'm very grateful to be a part of a free nation.

And one of the secrets and one of the keys to that is that free people have the right to keep and bear arms, to defend their own liberty.

Well, what is true in our country is true for the good soldier of Jesus Christ. You see,

when you come to our study in Ephesians chapter number six, where we're looking at the whole

armor of God, it's fascinating to me how much emphasis there is on arming yourself. And we are to be

an armed people. You see, the first three pieces of

the armor that we've looked at are mostly defensive. We looked at the belt of truth. Christ is our

truth. We looked at the breastplate of righteousness. Christ our righteousness. We looked at

the shield of faith. Christ, the object of our faith. But now we come to a fascinating portion of scripture.

In verse number 15, the Bible says,

And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

Then, if you come to verse number 17, it says,

and take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit,

which is the Word of God. I want to suggest to you that actually those three pieces actually have

something in common. The Gospel of Peace, salvation, and the Word of God. In a very real sense,

all three pieces that I've just given to you,

head to toe, top to bottom for the Christian soldier, are in some way connected to the Word of God.
