And today, we're talking as a record-breaking pilot, Zara Rutherford.

Hi, Zara.

Can you please tell our listeners a little bit about yourself?

Yeah. Hi, I'm Zara. I am currently 22 years old, but when I was 19, I became the youngest woman to fly sail around the world.

It was my biggest adventure of my life. It took five months. And I'm currently studying electrical engineering

at Stanford. Wow, the youngest woman to ever fly solo around the world. That's amazing.

How did you come up with the idea to do that? I was actually really lucky. I grew up in a family

of pilots. My dad flew a lot when I was younger,

and so he kind of introduced me to that world.

And yeah, I just knew from, like, I can't even remember,

but I was like, yes, I'm going to fly around the world.

Like, how cool would that be?

When did you know that your dream would become a reality?

I always kind of thought it was impossible because I was reading about these adventurers kind of like in books and I was seeing them in movies.

But I never really like imagined like, you know, a real life person doing those things.

And so it seemed very much out of reach. And I realized like with that

mindset, well, I'm not going to get anywhere, right? Like if you don't believe that you can do it,

well, odds are you're not going to try. And so I figured, let me try and see how far I can get.
