So we're actually doing something a little different today, our first crossover episode of a

sort with the athletics new WNBA staff writer, Shantel Jennings, joining us for today's episode.

Obviously, there are some shared markets between the W and the NWSL, and I know in particular

the Chicago Red Stars fans

feel very strongly about the Chicago Sky. Plus, we have the royal couple of Sue Bird and

Megan Rapino to discuss as well. But it's been really interesting to watch another women's

league go through a bubble tournament and the WNBA's approach to social justice compared to

the NWSL, which is a topic I spoke about

with Brooke LB from the player side of things two episodes ago if you miss it. So bringing in

Chantel, we can compare notes as the two full-time writers on the women's sports beats for the

athletic. It seemed like the perfect time, but first I want to catch up on the news of the week.

So I'm back from my first round of vacation, though I'm still catch up on the news of the week. So I'm back for my first round of

vacation, though I'm still catching up on life and sleep over the next couple of weeks, so I'll be

in and out on some more vacation time, but the news is not actually slowing down. Sam Mewis to

Man City is finally official with the announcement made on Monday, August 10th, with the move first reported on July 23rd by me over at The Athletic.

Mewis spoke to plenty of American and British media for her first press availability,

already sporting a city shirt via Zoom,

and here's what she had to say on the timing of the deal.

I think that coming to Man City pandemic or not is such a great opportunity.

So I did hear about this a couple months ago and was, I mean, obviously curious what would

happen with the end of the cell for the rest of the year.
