This is Gertrude Stein, episode two, oozing cubism.

This is our second episode, Peter, talking about Gertrude Stein, and she has been writing

this experimental cubist literature.

It has a huge fan base, especially in academic circles today.

I'm just going to be totally honest. I find it difficult to impossible to read. I don't know how you feel about her writing.

I'm still thinking about our last episode we recorded and about how difficult it is to be a genius.

I've been reflecting on that. I've been trying to, I've been trying to work, do less because because, you know, go-through-science advice that it's, you know, very, very tiring,

and, you know, you can't really do too much. And I've also been thinking about the words oozing onto the page. And so oozing a cubism. My cubism always has these kind of lines, and then the ooze.

I love the assonance.

So I don't think it's easy,

But I think the question with Stein is how self-indulgent is it.

And I'm slightly blinded by the fact that Stein has such a high opinion of herself that

I find it's slightly tricky to get past that, but maybe that's just being unfair.
