Straight into our first story, though.

Germany, until now, has been one of Israel's staunchest allies.

The legacy of the Holocaust means support for Israel has been an essential plank of German foreign policy for decades,

that something now appears to have snapped. And the announcement of a halt in arms sales

was made today. I mean, it only applies to those weapons that Germany says could be used in Gaza.

Now, that obviously creates the risk that they could send arms supposedly for defensive purposes,

but in fact used against people in Gaza, similar to some of the announcements actually made by the UK.

The move here, though, is especially significant as Germany is a massive supplier of Israeli weapons.

So they supply Israel with a third of their weapons behind the US, who supply 65% of arms to Israel,

above Italy, who provide 5%. So this is actually a lot more significant than the announcement a while ago from the UK

when it comes to arms to Israel.

And the move from Germany comes in response to the Israeli cabinet,
