Summary

German Luis Clerici ("Jersey" to his friends) disappeared in January of 2010. Days later, his body was found in a rural Kansas culvert. His shoes were clean. His wallet was still on him. His car was missing. And for more than a decade, no one could explain what happened. In April 2021, Coffee & Cases became the only podcast to ever cover Jersey’s case — just months before new information surfaced and investigators reopened the investigation. That fresh look led to arrests, court proceedings, and finally, long-awaited answers. In this update episode, Allison revisits Jersey’s story to share what has been uncovered since that original episode aired: what happened inside the house where he was last seen, how evidence was concealed, how investigators were misled, and what the court documents now reveal about the choices made after his death. This episode also explores the questions that still remain — and what justice looks like when the truth arrives years late, but at last, arrives. Listeners are encouraged to listen to our April 22nd, 2021 episode on German Luis Clerici (reposted just last week for your convenience) for full context before listening to this update. It's something I think about a lot, how timing matters. Not just in life, but in truth. The right moment can open a door. The wrong one

0:41.2

can keep it closed for years. When we released episode 76, German Luis Clarice, called Jersey,

called Jersey by his friends. On April 22nd, 2021, we were the only podcast that had ever covered his case.

We still are. At the time, Jersey's story had been quiet for more than a decade. No arrests,

1:04.1

no charges, no movement. Just questions. We took it on when one of Jersey's friends reached out to our podcast and asked us

to cover his case. What we didn't know then was that our episode would air just months before

1:20.5

Butler County Sheriff Monty Huey decided to put fresh eyes on the case and reopen the investigation,

which led to new information and eventually the discovery of evidence that led to arrests. And that timing still matters to me. Because if you're

just finding the story now, I want to pause for a moment and make something clear. This update

will make far more sense if you've listened to our episode on German Clarice's case.

That episode walks you carefully through who Jersey was, how he disappeared, how his body was found, and why so many details never seemed to fit.
