three world class events the World Cup the Nation's Cup and the Palm Beach Open we've been

talking with some of the riders who have trained for years to compete at this level learning

about what motivates them and how they deal with disappointment and success.

And joining us on this episode is one such writer, accomplished professional show jumper

Georgina Bloomberg, daughter of Susan Brown and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Among her many achievements, Georgina represented the United States equestrian team

at the 2015 Pan American Games, where she earned a team bronze medal. We caught up with

Georgina to find out more about what it takes to compete at this level and how she deals with the

ups and downs of such a challenging sport. Georgina, first of all, tell us how you got into riding.

I'm sure you get asked that a lot.

How did you begin?

I started riding, actually.

My mother had ridden a little bit when she was a child in England.

And then when she had my sister and I here, she really wanted us to sort of be around horses and to try riding.

And my sister was signed up for some lessons, and I just really wanted to do everything that she did

So I started take some lessons as well and I actually did not like it when I first started I was terrified

But I was very stubborn so because she was doing it I refused to quit and so the stubbornness won over the fear and I stuck with it.

And how old were you then? I started when I was four and then my first competition was when I was

six. And you had a really big junior career as well. I did. Yeah. You know, I'm not a not a big pony
