Last weekend, when I definitely should have been doing literally anything else,

like cleaning out the fridge or replying to text that I've been dodging since, I don't know, August,

I fell into this deep, sad rabbit hole of black market

adoption stories and those teary parent kid reunion clips that you would see on old episodes

of Unsolved Mysteries or Oprah. And why my brain picked that as the weekend vibe, no idea.

But I was locked in, just scrolling,

scrolling, scrolling. And imagine, you're on your couch. It's a normal night about to crack open

a Diet Coke and Unsolved Mysteries comes on. And that creepy synth music starts up. Robert Stack is

like, tonight, a mystery that has haunted families for decades.

And you're gearing up for some haunted barn situation, right?

But nope.

It cuts to a segment about stolen babies.

And then you recognize someone.

Not like, oh, she looks kind of familiar.
