I got a call at home from its publisher, Grey Wolf Press, asking me, although it was on short notice, could I take a look

at this book, that its author was coming from Australia, that the book was a big surprise and that

many people were discovering it all at once. And with, you know, my usual cordiality, I said, well, certainly send it over,

but you'll have to send it to New York because I'm going on vacation. So the house to bet

came to my parents' house in New York, and I think I didn't stop reading it once I opened it,

and then I called them back and said,

Well, part of the locality I've used for the book is in Queensland on the Gold Coast.
