During the Trump years, there was an exodus of conservative thinkers and writers from the

Republican Party, from the conservative movement, but that doesn't mean they left behind their

ideas or principles, if you will.

Joining me today is one of those folks who is dedicated to columnist George Well, the

author of a new book, American Happiness and Discontents, which he writes about Afghanistan,

social distancing and a course, American History.

I wanted to be with you.

So we're speaking 24 hours after the loss of another Republican rising star who got chased

out of the party by Donald Trump and I'm referring to Anthony Gonzalez.

And it gets it, you know, I, every one of his rationales makes perfect sense to me as

somebody who's my kids a little bit older, his kids are younger, every, every decision

he's making to say saying, this is, you know, I'm out.

I get it.

But you look at a day like over the last 24 hours, you're like, boy, that's another

win for Trump, is it not?

Yes.

And as I've seen it said that Trump has spiked the football and knocking him out, which

is sort of fitting because in football, crazy, Ohio, representative Gonzalez was as

good as it gets.

He was in first round, draft picked the NFL, great career, Ohio State, but he recognizes
