I am frequently amazed by our founding father's ability to predict the future.

George Washington warned us that the spirit of

revenge natural to party dissension would lead people to invest absolute power in an individual.

Looking at the recent news about GOP primaries, we can see. Washington was correct. Hello,

their everyday Americans.

You know, I go back to Washington's farewell address, and I'll give you the whole quote.

He said, the alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge,

natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries have perpetuated the most

horridanities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal

and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries which result gradually inclined the minds of men to seek

security and repose in the absolute power of an individual. And sooner or later, the chief of some

prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition of

purposes of his own elevation on the ruins of public liberty.

This quote came to mind as I've been watching the news lately because, you know,

generally I don't talk about party politics because a pox on both their houses.

I detest political parties.

I detest what they've become.

I detest how they abused their position.
