You might find it funny that one of the protected,

nationally protected sites in the United Kingdom

is the ancestral house of the Washington's.

The The Washington's. The picturesque Stone Manor House and its gardens provide a tranquil oasis and reflect gentry life following the turbulence of the English Civil War.

It was the home of the Washington family from 1180 to 1613, Washington Old Hall.

So yes, the ancestral home of the family of America's first president is a British

museum and tourist stop, and I would say, what's a better way to describe it, a nice garden

to walk through and have a peaceful moment.

But it wasn't something that the famous family member would have known about it all.

He certainly didn't visit there, and he wouldn't have known about it.

During his lifetime, when he's president in 1792, Sir Isaac Hurd, who is the Garter Principal King of Arms or the Chief Herald of the College of Arms in London,

writes Washington to ask for information about the president's ancestry.
