0:10.8	Islip Federal Courthouse in the Federal Court for the Eastern District of New York, where a
0:17.9	13 count federal indictment against Maggery Public in George Santos was unsealed. The United States
0:26.7	Attorney for the Eastern District of New York released the following statement. Quote,
0:31.8	this indictment seeks to hold George Santos accountable for various alleged fraudulent schemes
0:38.6	and brazen misrepresentations taken together the allegations in the indictment
0:45.2	charge Santos with relying on repeated dishonesty and deception to ascend to the halls of Congress
0:53.3	and enrich himself. He used political contributions to line his pockets unlawfully applied for
1:01.9	unemployment benefits that should have gone to New Yorkers who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic
1:08.7	and lied to the House of Representatives. And so the 13 count indictment which will show for you now
1:16.6	is broken down into the three categories that the United States Attorney for the Eastern
1:22.7	District of New York set forth in that statement. They include fraudulent campaign contributions,
1:30.0	they include money laundering, theft of public funds with respect to this unemployment
1:37.1	benefit fraud scheme that he engaged in and then these false statements. So breaking down the
1:43.6	indictment into these categories with respect to the first category of these unlawful campaign
1:50.8	contributions and the fraud. What George Santos did is he created a company which is just listed
1:59.0	in the indictment as company number one and entity that George Santos controlled the devolder
2:06.0	organization was listed as having a controlling interest in company number one. But company number
2:13.4	one utilized a political operative who's listed in the indictment as just political consultant or
2:20.0	operative number one. And this individual in concert with George Santos with lie to potential donors
2:30.4	and claim that this company was a 501 C4 that it was a campaign organization that was raising money
