Summary

Episode 116 George Heath

56 year old teacher George Heath went out for a date night with his wife Rosemary on May 10, 2016 to the Taunton, MA. Galleria Mall. What should have been a nice night of dinner and a movie turned tragic when a man suffering a mental break deliberately crashed his car into the mall and began attacking people. While many people fled, George and Rosemary sprang into action trying to defend a pregnant waitress, but they were no match for the bigger stronger attacker, and George was fatally stabbed. Rosemary was in the sights of the killer before an off duty police officer shot him, ending the onslaught. Rosemary rushed to George's side comforting him promisng him she'd be okay. But it was hard for Rosemary to go on and she suffered PTSD and financial issues almost losing the home her and George loved. But she soon discovered that just as George gave his life helping a stranger in an act of kindness, the community rallied around Rosemary raising money for her to keep her home. George became a hero in the community and his memory lives on with his students and fellow faculty who continue to honor his memory. Rosemary discusses the tragic events of that day and her struggle to survive the aftermath.
