Summary

The quarterback conversation continues as Evan and Tiki react to a projection that the Jets could end up with Jacoby Brissett and Geno Smith in their QB room. Would a Geno reunion make any sense, or would it just bring back painful memories for Jets fans? They also revisit the Derek Carr speculation and debate whether his recent comments actually mean he wants to play in New York or if the Jets are reading too much into it. Plus, the guys pivot to baseball with Yankees spring training talk, Aaron Boone’s live “damn it” reaction during a Ryan McMahon play, and why top prospect George Lombard is starting to turn heads in camp.

There's another positional change going on, and it's much different. And that's going on in Yankee camp with Ryan McMahon getting a crack at shortstop. But the reason Aaron Boone is doing that is not to move Ryan McMahon to shortstop. I don't think there's really a world in which he's playing there a lot. It's that he can be a backup. And that if there's an injury or a late game change, Ryan McMahon is at least capable of moving over and playing shortstop. Yes. They've got Jose Caballero, Oswaldo Cabrero, who's returning today. Really good news for him after the gruesome injury from a year ago. They've got some other options, but hey, this is the time to learn. Yep. And so Ryan McMahon's lessons at shortstop, they haven't gone well. Now, I'd be the first to tell you, it's not a big deal. No biggie.

No biggie. No biggie. I mean, he's learning a position to be a backup. I mean, look at Boba Shet at third base. No biggie. Well, now you're being a jerk. You saw the high throw yesterday? Is that what you're talking about? Such a jerk call. I just had to do it. I could help myself. Sean's not here. He's drinking margaritas of Mexico.

I understand. You saw the high throw yesterday? Is that what you're talking? It was such a jerk call. I just had to do it.

I could help myself.

Sean's not here.

He's drinking margaritas of Mexico. Not real Mexico, Disney Mexico. But I had to. I got you. And look, the Boba Schett thing is far different because he is learning a position. They need him to play well. But Ryan McMahon thing isn't no biggie. he's learning it, they're putting him out there, it's all fine.

Aaron Boone basically goes on every Yankee broadcast, which I think is really cool. The Ryan McMahon thing is a no biggie. He's learning it. They're putting him out there. It's all fine.

Aaron Boone basically goes on every Yankee broadcast, which I think is really cool. Like, he'll come on. He'll do an interview. So he was on doing his in-game interview. As Ryan McMahon tried to make a difficult play in the hole, it was a tough play, and then he made an awful throw. here's Aaron Boone watching it and reacting to it live on TV.

Whether it's sometimes in spring training or early in the year, if you remember last year he had it.

It's like he wants him to do well.

1:56.0

I mean, Booney, it's spring training, bro.

Yeah, but...

Like he's learning a new position. But how many opportunities at that is he going to get? And so you just kind of want it to look right the first time. That way, you're not worried about it. He gave us a live, damn it, on TV. Don't go. Damn it. That whisper, damn it is the one you don't want to actually say, but then you say it. Right. Because you're thinking it. Right. We've all been there. Yeah. And here's a funny thing about this play, because obviously it's radio, so I'll do a little radio, play by play. The mistake McMahon made was making the throw. Yeah. Like, there was no play. And I think what Boone is damning about is eat the ball. There's no reason to make that throw. But he dammed in him. Like if Mendi was on the Mets broadcast during a Bobichette error, you think he would give us a damn? I don't think he would. No, he would give you some Spanish curse. You think so? Yes, definitely. Yeah, but this position will change for McMahon is not a big deal. He's the third baseman. What I still think I would like to see on this Yankee roster is like a right-handed bat who can play a little bit of third base. Like they did it with Goldie being able to play first base, but someone who could also fill in for Ryan McMahon at third, right-handed bat. And I guess eventually when Volpe is back or if Lombard gets to the major leagues, that's where this would occur with Caballero bouncing everywhere. I guess Ahmed Rosario can do it a little bit. Or Rosario is probably going to face left-handed pitching all the time at third base. No doubt. I would just like someone who can do third base, first base, and even some DHS when Stanton isn't there.
