And it's actually a little bit of an intriguing game to me believe me or not believe it or not and that's not just because I have season tickets and I'm going to be watching the game here in Nashville it's because the Jacksonville Jaguars to me are an intriguing team going forward with what you decide to do with that franchise and I think it's kind of emblematic of the challenge that overall NFL teams face in general and let me explain why.

Last season it looked like the Jacksonville Jaguars work close to becoming a team that could perpetually contend for championships because they had so much young defensive talent and because it seemed like the combination of littered for net and Blake Bortles at least in the post season might be coming into their own.

And that wasn't even a ridiculous proposition early in the season when the Jacksonville Jaguar started off with that beat down of the New England Patriots right everybody out there if you went back and listen to the tape said man the Jags look like a super bowl team and remember how the season started.

The Jags started three and one and they looked like a really really talented team and if you ran through everything surrounding their performance to start the year there was no there were no red flags.

In fact they beat down the Patriots in week two to get to two and oh and if you went back and looked the Jags were on everybody's list as one of the two or three best teams in the NFL oh man look at what this team is capable of week three they had a little bit of a blip they lost to the Tennessee Titans nine to six.

But a lot of people myself included said well that was a good win for the Titans there's no reason to really get worked up about it they bounced back the next week and beat the Jets and they were sitting at three and one as they entered into the entered into the second month of the season.

And what is interesting about the Jacksonville Jaguar decision is it's one that I think several teams are going to have to make in the near future I've talked a little bit about this but we all know how important the quarterback position is.

And it's so difficult if you think you have a guy who's pretty good but maybe not great and you hope he's going to go from pretty good to good to maybe great over the next few years what do you do.

And the Jags decided you know what we're going to give Blake Bortles 50 million plus and it is blown up in their face and they're going to be I believe back in the draft probably taking somebody in the first round as as this year's draft happens or next year's draft happens in Nashville and what is intriguing about it is how does that implosion.

Of the quarterback position come to impact everywhere else because if you look at the Jags team it wasn't just that they gave Blake Bortles 50 million plus it was that simultaneously they were having to deal with that young defense coming undone at the seams.

And a big part I think of that young defense coming undone at the seams was the fact that Blake Bortles wasn't a good enough quarterback to be able to grab control of that team and kind of get him back on track when they started to collapse after that three and one start.

Now I still think the Jags are a pretty decent team defensively they are elite they are at times down right nasty I mean they just shut out Andrew.

And then we're going to be lucky in the Indianapolis Colts which is hard to do luck is as good of a quarterback right now as there is in the NFL and to shut him out to be capable of doing that even if your team at the time I believe was three and eight is an outlandish endorsement of what of what they are capable of.

But the Blake Bortles question to me is also reflective of the question that at least three NFL teams face right now.

What do you do with that young quarterback who is pretty good you hope can be good and maybe one day go to great and there are three teams that I think are battling that decision right now and one of them is the team that is going up against the Jacksonville Jaguars and you guys know I believe in him but there certainly a bullish case to make for Marcus Mario and there's a bearish case to make for Marcus Mario and I think that's one of the story lines that will play out into nights game.

The Titans have a fourth year starting quarterback in Marcus Mario who right now at the quarterback rating is right around 95.

He's trending towards a hundred over the last several games he's been a little bit injury prone but how is Marcus Mario to going to finish out this season I think that goes a long way towards figuring out what the future of the Titans franchise is going to look like.
