Hello and welcome to the second episode of our series on Chingis Khan.

We left Chingis at this time,

still known as Temujin, on the verge of bringing together the Mongol peoples under his rule,

something that'd never been done before. It's been a stunning rise. He's already made a name for himself as a formidable and ruthless leader, but he's going to have to win

one more battle against a larger army, led by a man wants his closest friend to take absolute

power over the United Mongol clans. The step may be vast, but there is not room for both

Temujin and Jamuka. Whichever one is defeated will lose everything.

The Unstoppable Khan. So it's the spring of 1204 and the step is coming to life after the long winter,

but before Temujin can start chasing his dreams, he has to deal with the one remaining power block standing against him.

The Naiman and Jamuja, his childhood friend turned bitter foe,

who's attached himself to the Naaman with his army.

This was inevitable, Peter, and has been building to a climax ever since Temujin defeated

the Kerat.

Yeah, I think what's inevitable is there going to be a standoff and it's when it takes all.

I think it's not clear that Temujin is going to win. In fact, you'd think that it would be more likely that the

Neiman would demolish the Mongols. And I should say that there's a lot at stake in all of this.
