So we'll go ahead and get started.

And when we get started here in just a moment,

we're going to be picking up in Genesis chapter 37.

So I'm not going to do a ton of recap because we were at a very nice breakpoint last time.

So last time we talked about the genealogies,

geology primarily of Esau and the Edomites.

We talked about the scope of Genesis and even the rest of the Torah

as we continue into the other books and how that includes

not only the descendants of Israel, aka Jacob, but also the other descendants of Abraham, that they're

also of concern all the way through, right? Even into Deuteronomy, the end of the Torah,

they're still involved,

and God is still involved with them.

So tonight we're going to be shifting,

in one sense,

we're going to be shifting into the story of Joseph.

In another sense, this is less clear of a transition than the other ones we've seen in the

patriarchal narratives, meaning there's a pretty clear transition

from Abraham to Isaac, and then from Isaac to Jacob, right, in terms of who the story was

focusing on. And in one sense, there is about to be this shift to Joseph. So that's true in one sense.
