Okay, we'll go ahead and get started, and when we get started in just a moment, we will be

picking up at the beginning of Genesis Chapter 32 to do sort of a quick

review and not belabor it too much

basically

last time we covered a big chunk

but basically that chunk was the time

that Jacob spent with his uncle Laban.

And that included getting to spend seven years each

to marry both of his uncle Laban's daughters,

his first cousins, Leia and Rachel.

That included Leia and Rachel starting to have children,

getting competitive about having children.

Jacob also having children by their handmaidens as part of that competition.

All of that competition originates with Jacob himself

because, of course, we were told that Jacob loved Rachel

and Leia not so much.

Leia, he ended up marrying basically because Leban bamboozled him.

And so he favored Rachel a great deal.

And in response to that, sort of restore justice, God favored Leah and gave her more children to kind of even that out.
