When we get started in just a moment, we'll be picking up in the beginning of Genesis

chapter 29, so Genesis 29 verse 1.

And last time to try and somewhat quickly recap, we read about Jacob having greatly angered his brother by participating with his mother in some treachery to secure the blessings and promises that were due

to the firstborn, headed out for Rachel's family's place so that Esau would get a chance

to cool off. And we read about a little part of that journey. And then on that journey,

we read about the dream that Jacob had where he saw the ladder, which we talked about

being a ziggurat, and set up the sort of standing stone at Bethel at that point. And so that was a quick recap.

As we pick up, we're going to be getting to Jacob getting to his mother's family's place.

and came to the land of the east to Laban so he looked and saw a well in the field and

behold there were three flocks of sheep lying by it for out of

that well they watered the flocks and a large stone was on the well's mouth now all the flocks would be

gathered there and they would roll the stone from the well's mouth water the sheep and put the stone back
