We're going to be picking up at the beginning of Genesis chapter 28.

So last time we saw the politely fracture in the relationship between Jacob and Esau,

much of which was Rebecca's doing, as she sort of encouraged, aided and abetted Jacob in bamboozling Isaac into giving him the

blessing of the firstborn, right?

Passing on the promises to Abraham to him.

This deeply upset, Esau obviously, Esau was also blessed, but not in the same way.

And Issa was very mad, as one would expect, and was going around threatening to kill Jacob.

And right at the end, Rachel said, Jacob, why don't you head over to see my brother, your uncle, over in Mesopotamia

for a few days while Esau cools off? This might be a good idea, what with him, threatening

your death at all. And that's pretty much where we left off last time and where we're picking up this time sort of in mid-story.

So we have a relatively quick recap.

chapter 28 verse 1. Now Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him saying you shall not

take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. Arise go to Mesopotamia to the house of Bethul your mother's father and take yourself a wife from the daughters of Canaan. Arise, go to Mesopotamia to the house of Bethul, your mother's

father, and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of Laban, your mother's brother.

So remember, this is how Rebecca pitched this to Isaac, who was also quite upset after being baboosal.
