Today, the Bible Study podcast continues with the study of the book of Genesis with chapter 2.

I'm your host, Chris Christensen. I mentioned that in this chapter,

there's going to be a retelling of some of what was in the first chapter, or at least it appears to be,

a second account of creation. And if you ever get a chance to take a class at seminary,

you're going to hear about the J version, the E version,

and the P version of Genesis, or the texts that are coming in potentially from three different

sources. And they determine that because one tends to call God Yahweh. That would be the Y version

and the J text tends to call God Jehovah and the E text

tends to call God Elohim. And that may be. And that is certainly something I will leave to your

teacher when you go to seminary, but we're not going to talk about that today. For one thing,

I don't know a whole lot about it. but that is one theory for why there's a second

version.

I'm going to give you two other ones, and I'll let you choose between them, with the understanding,

of course, that Bible scholars use that theory quite often.

The second chapter of Genesis goes like this.

Thus, the heavens and the earth were completed in all

their vast array. By the seventh day, God had finished the work he had been doing, so on the

seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because

on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
