Well, we are still having strange conversations here at the Bible Book Club. Maybe not strange,

but stranger conversation. No, they're going to get strange today, actually. Conversations about strangers,

angels actually. So last week, we did have a stranger conversation. That was part one. Abraham offered

the three strangers just radical hospitality while they were

dining and Abraham received some good news. He learns that it is finally promised time,

the promise of a son that will happen this year. Today, the stranger conversations continue

with bad news. Don't you love how that Bible does it to us? We're up and down all

the time. The bad news is that Lot is in trouble again. Unfortunately, remember, Lot chose to live

in Sodom, which was a place of such depravity that its citizens are going to be severely judged. Yes, we are heading to the story of Sodom and Gomorrah.

God knows that Abraham loves that like a son,

and he also knows that this news is going to hurt Abraham.

And remember that Abraham has loved several surrogate sons over the years.

Lot, his nephew, may have been the first, whom he brought with him out of Er, followed by his servant, Eliezer, and then Ishmael.
