And now he could be the next Dutch Prime Minister. He's been called a political pyromatiac. For more than 20 years, the Dutch MP

here at Filders has been one of Europe's most divisive politicians, convicted

in court for insulting foreigners, living under 24-hour police protection because of threats

to his life.

In person, Vilters is brash.

He can be funny.

He's got unusual hair.

Kind of sounds familiar.

For a long time the Dutch political establishment had managed to keep here to Vilders on the fringes. But an upsurge in voter anger

in elections this month delivered a result that shocked everybody, including Vilders,

delivering him the biggest share of the vote, and a chance to form the next Dutch government.

It's yet another example of how the far right are marching into parliaments across Europe,

but it might also be an example of how mainstream parties are letting them in.
