Hello and welcome back to the Pink Bike podcast. This week, it's your host, Matt Beer. I've only done a couple of these things, but today we have a very special guest. We have the one and only, G. Atherton. He's the part owner of Atherton Bikes, Dovey Bike Park. And I would guess that some people would call you

the 007 of mountain biking. I can't claim that I coined that term, but I think it suits you

really well. You've got eight World Cup wins, two world championships. You were on Red Bull Rampage podiums twice, and now your

career is progressing into these huge big mountain film projects. So yeah, G, thanks for coming on.

Thank you, man. Good to be here. It's a very kind intro as well. I mean, I've never been described as

007 before, but absolutely we'll take it. Solid. So we first, I guess, met in person this past

crankworks. You were here in BC doing some some riding we did a cool atherton continental

heli bike ride that was yeah that was one of the highlights of the summer for sure yeah if not a couple

years that was amazing riding incredible yeah both you dan and rachel are so versed in your riding and your skills and your career has been very long.

But I guess getting started on this whole thing, we're going to talk about the big mountain film projects.

We're going to talk a little bit about Hardline.

We're going to talk about Atherton bikes and how the Dewey Bike Park

sort of sets as a test bed for those bikes. And where did it all start? Like I remember, I guess,

first hearing about the Athertons in the old Earthed film series, you know, you're building

huge jumps back then in these big Welsh gravel pits and stuff.

Yeah, I mean, it was, it was probably before that even, you know, when, when in my eyes,

things started to kind of head in the direction that they have. Older brother Dan was the driving

force. He kind of started this, this passion that we had for

bikes and he, he was very, even at, you know, seven, eight, nine years old, similar to how he is

now, you know, very driven, very motivated, very focused, you know, aware of what he wants to do and how to get there.

And he dragged me in.

I was nothing like that.
