Jade, welcome to the podcast. How are you feeling? I'm feeling great. It's been a long day, but I was looking forward to this all day. Not going to lie. Yeah, no. For those of you who don't know, Jade is my teammate on the volleyball team. And one of my best friends here, she's made this transition so easy. I have the best time with her. So it was a no-brainer when I was thinking about who to have on the podcast to be my first guest because I knew it would be so easy to just sit here and talk with her for hours, which we won't. But I always love talking with her, talk with her every single day, four hours on end. So very exciting. So we will

0:55.5

just get right into it. We're going to cover a little bit of everything, but I just want listeners to

1:01.0

leave knowing a little bit more about Jade as a person, because everyone can know what she's like on

1:06.4

the volleyball court and see that side of her, but really getting to know Jade Demps the way that I know Jade because I love her as a person. She's one of my favorite people on the planet and I hope that everyone gets to see the amazing person she is through this episode. So starting off simple. Just tell me a little bit about yourself, Jade.

1:41.2

We were hoopers back in the day, you know, just really big time Hoopers.

1:44.7

Just point that out. Exactly, exactly. I guess a little bit else. I really like fashion.

1:51.7

That's kind of one of my hobbies that I've discovered as of late. It's kind of hard,

1:55.7

honestly, to really find something when you're a student athlete, but that's one of my things.

2:01.9

I like it. I like it. Moving right along to the next question, what role has sports?

2:08.2

You obviously mentioned track and basketball or volleyball played in your life growing up.

2:13.4

Yeah, I mean, obviously, like I said, I've been doing that for the majority of my life.

2:18.6

I've been doing a sport for longer than I haven't been doing a sport.

2:22.6

And I think that it's genuinely taught me so much about how to work with people and how to operate and take feedback that I've been given and apply that, which if, I mean, it's just, I think it's going to really

2:36.3

pay out in dividends when I am not here anymore, not playing. I think additionally, what's

2:42.4

interesting is since I did track, what I did was a lot of field events, and a lot of those

2:48.5

are individual events.

2:52.9

And I feel like from that,

2:56.1

I was able to gain this sense of self and able to regulate myself
