I'm Rebecca Kersby and we begin in Gaza where tens of thousands of Palestinians have been fleeing the southern city of Khan Yunus.

The Israeli military has issued an evacuation order telling civilians to immediately leave a wide sweep of land to the east of that city after more than 20 rockets were fired towards Israel.

Overnight, eyewitnesses reported multiple Israeli strikes in the area.

At least eight people were killed according to the Hamas-run health authorities and several

others were wounded.

Many believe another major Israeli ground offensive could be imminent.

evacuate Dr Mohammed Tahere is a British surgeon working at the hospital.

I'd been at a Nasser medical complex where I was lecturing a medical student.

I returned to the European hospital to start my operating and then we got the news that the hospital was being

evacuated of course I found that to be very strange because I always assumed the

European hospital would be one of the safe havens in Gaza.

And yet the news was confirmed to us that it was actually in the red zone and had been deemed unsafe.
