When last we left all of the runaways, Apex the Wild Man, Cynthia the Nurse, Alvin the Mechanic, Louise the Scavenger, and Theo the combat medic.

They fought tooth and nail to get to the heart of Vault 40, once home of the archers,

now little more than a hive invested with insectoid F.E.V. Mutants. They confronted the

preacher, a cyborg with the body of a Mr. Handy and the head of a giant mutant cicada

that acted as the de facto leader of these insectoid beings.

Unable to reason with the preacher, the runaways fought their way through a horde of insects,

dodging mini-gun fire all the while until Apex managed to wound the preacher, forcing him to retreat.

Now, these wasteland warriors who have fought for so long for peace,

now walk through a monument to the St. Louis Arch and into the Overseer's Office,

where the code to open Vault 4 awaits.

What secrets will be revealed beyond?

Where is the preacher?

What will be the ultimate fate of St. Louis,

or perhaps, even all of America?

The overseer's desk looks like it hasn't been touched by time or whatever had been happening in the rest of the vault.

As a matter of fact, this place looks positively clean by comparison.

The overseer's terminal hums with life, and the monitor displays a login screen.

Oh, shucks.
