| 0:36.7 | No thanks to COVID, but we're back and it's a beautiful day, and camp has wrapped up for the day. We just heard from running back Sony and Michelle, and you were talking about, you know, his contract status, Chris, and you feel, and I'm with you that, you know, one of the areas of strength, at least from the offensive side of things, for the Patriots going into the season, is running back. They're deep at running back. Is Sony and Michelle even going to be here, week one? I think it depends. I mean, look, certainly you never know what can happen from an injury standpoint. The running game is going to be a strength of this team. They're going to use multiple backs. They were fourth in the league last year in rushing. But I think if there's a hole somewhere else on this roster and the fact that I don't think Sony Michelle is going to be back next season, I think this is it for him one way or the other. It would make some sense to shop them and shop them to some of those NFC West teams. The Rams, you mentioned with Cam Acres, there's a fit there. I think the Arizona Cardinals are a team. They don't have a lot on their depth chart at running back, and that could be a potential fit. Maybe somebody comes back, whether it's an Andy Isabella or Christian Kirk, who's in a similar position to Sony Michelle down in Arizona where they didn't pick up the option, and he's a guy that could be his last year with Arizona. Maybe there's a swap there. You're strong at running back. The Cardinals are strong at wide receiver. You make a swap that helps both teams. So I think barring injury, it would make some sense to at least shop him, but what's the return? You know, if you can't get a Christian Kirk or if teams are just telling you, yeah, we'll give you a six for Sony and Michelle, We might as well hold on to him because he's insurance, you know, throughout the course of the season for injuries. Any other move? Your gut tell you that any surprise cuts, you know, we had this whole Nikiel Harris situation a few weeks back. And apparently he's looked like one of the better wide receivers so far. He has looked pretty good. I mean, at least, but again, you know, he's looked good because they're doing things that play to his strength, like Red Zone. |
| 2:20.2 | Sure. |
| 2:20.7 | You know, it's looked good because they're doing things that play to his strength, like Red Zone. |
| 2:20.1 | Sure. You know, it's like, okay, red zone jump ball. Great. And look, last year I wanted him to play, I think, with more intention and more force. And so that's a good sign. I'm not taking anything away from him. But I want to see |
| 2:32.7 | can he separate in the open field? |
| 2:35.0 | Down in the red zone, he doesn't really have |
| 2:36.9 | to separate. He can just box people. I'm not taking anything away from him, but I want to see can he separate in the open field. |
| 2:35.0 | Down in the red zone, he doesn't really have to separate. He can just box people out. Yeah, and we saw a glimpse of the kicker, Quinn Norton. I know there's been a lot of hype about him. Maybe he ends up making the team. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think there's going to be any kind of like wow cut or, you know, if they did trade someone like Michaelaari or even trade in Sony Michelle for a future pick or maybe another body like a Christian Kirk or something like that. Like I don't consider that like a holy crap splash type of move. I don't think you're going to get that this year heading into week one. I mean, just off the top of my head, I mean, it's early in camp, but you look at, they do have some nice depth, I think, at the linebacker position. |
| 3:09.5 | So maybe a guy like John Bentley, who's, you know, pretty limited and doesn't have the special team's value of some of the other backup linebackers. Maybe a guy like that would be a surprise cut due to their defensive depth. I could see, I could see something like that there potentially happening. Maybe there's some sort of surprise cut on the defensive line if they have depth. I could see something like that there potentially happening. |
| 3:25.0 | Maybe there's some sort of surprise cut on the defensive line. If they have depth, maybe one of the free agent guys that they signed, whether it's, you know, Montravius Adams or Henry Anderson. We always do this. You know, the offseason, they sign all these guys in free agency and you think they're all going to make the team. Like you could see somebody from that group of free agents they sign that they end up cutting |
| 3:43.0 | at the end of camp because they have either younger players they like better or guys that can |
| 3:46.8 | play special teams or they just feel like they have good depth there or they're trying to |
| 3:50.6 | hold on to some young developmental player at another position and there's a crunch. |
| 3:54.8 | So you could see that as well. |
