President Biden is calling on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax, at least for three

months.

Congress would save Americans about $0.18 a gallon on gas and $0.24 a gallon on diesel.

Biden also asked states to suspend their own gas taxes since those run an average of

$0.30 on the gallon.

But a lot of economists and lawmakers from both parties don't like the idea of a gas tax

holiday.

They say it won't do that much to help people and could actually increase demand, making

the problem worse in the long term.
