Gary, before we get stuck in today's game against the champions, Leicester City,

the big news that reverberated around Old Traffle before the game that Wayne Rooney was dropped.

Did it come as any great surprise?

I don't think so after he was picked at Northampton on Wednesday night.

I think that was obviously a telling sign and obviously when we got down here today the rumor was already sort of if you

like wildfire around the ground that he was going to be left out look there's always going to

come a point where he was going to be left out I think that it's a big call I know

Jose Marino said before the game that it's not it's a normal thing but it is a big call

to leave Wayman Rune out it's a big personality to leave Wayne Rooney. It's a big personality.

It brings big headlines.

If United lose today, it comes with a lot of criticism, potentially, a lot more scrutiny.

The fact that it was probably the fact that they've won for one, it's the perfect day for

Josie Marino in the sense that the team have won.

He'll play again on, I would imagine, Thursday night in the Europa League and we've

just spoken now on there, haven't we, about the fact that sort of this new, this transition

into a sort of new part of his career, a new phase of his career where he's got to find

a different role potentially, where he's got to play a different way. No player at 22 is the same at 33, 32, 31.

They're just completely different.

If you think of where Paul Scalls went from a marauding midfield player to a holding midfield

player sat in front of the back four.

Gerard the same, gigs from a flying left winger to a central midfield player.
