Summary

On the latest episode of The Mets Pod presented by Tri-State Cadillac, SNY Mets play-by-play broadcaster Gary Cohen joins Connor Rogers and Joe DeMayo to talk about the Mets winning ways and the party atmosphere at Citi Field. The crew covers crazy crowds in Queens, the sparkling starting rotation, Brett Baty, Luisangel Acuna, Francisco Lindor, and Gary reveals what it was like calling the Roku game with Joe Girardi and his favorite ballpark to call a game in outside of Citi Field. Later, Connor and Joe look back at another successful week for the Mets, go Down on the Farm to chat about Jonah Tong, Nolan McLean, Matt Allan, and other pitching prospects, and answer Mailbag questions about additional outfield options, potential Mets All-Stars, and pitching possibilities surrounding the MLB trade deadline. The last home series of the year last year against the Phillies, that's the first time in a few years that we had heard the stadium feel like a party.

0:10.2

And that continued through the postseason.

0:12.0

But the nice thing about it is that even, you know, with some bad April weather and even on weeknights, now we're getting the kinds of crowds that we're used to getting in those

late season, postseason situations.

What's up, everybody?

Gary, thanks so much for jumping back on. How are you doing?

0:57.8

Thanks for having me. I like that you're a frequent guest now, Gary. I'm going to almost

1:02.8

introduce you as contributor to the Mets Pod at this point. Listen, I want to start off with something

1:07.7

that is just so evident to all of us watching at home,

1:11.0

even if anyone hasn't been to the ballpark yet. What is the energy level like this year?

1:15.7

Because you can almost hear it screaming through the broadcast, but it's not just that

1:20.0

it's a Saturday game or a Friday night game. Have you noticed such a change in the consistency

1:24.9

of these crowds at City Field? Oh, oh gosh i mean such a an enormous change from

1:30.5

last year it started the last home series of the year last year against the Phillies that's the

first time in a few years that we had heard the stadium feel like a party and that continued

thing about it is that even, you know, with some bad April weather and even on weeknights,

1:50.3

postseason situations. And I think that, you know, between Lindor's walk-up music

and the way the team's playing and there's just so much fan involvement right now. And,

2:10.6

you know, it's a really good team. Right. And that breeds happiness in the ballpark. And I think it carries over not only from day to day, but from year to year.
